Icmeler history stretches as far back as 3400 B.C. The first settlers to this region were named the Car. Caria was later assigned, meaning the land of the Car. The abundance and richness of the coastlines of the Aegean and Mediterranean has constantly allured the new coming settlers. Remnants can be found of the city of Physkos, the first settlement of Icmeler and Marmaris, near the vicinity of Asartepe.
